Living To 100 - Diet & A Little Bit Of Luck

Having just returned from Key West and a tour of the famed Hemingway home, I begin this entry about living to age 100 and beyond with the story of Gregorio Fuentes, the inspiration for one of Hemingway’s greatest novels -- The Old Man and the Sea whose subject matter is the struggle of an old man to reel in a huge Marlin. The fishing partner of Hemingway’s, Gregorio was a lifelong cigar smoker and is alleged to have advised a glass of rum each morning for breakfast (no wonder Papa liked him so much). Gregorio died from cancer ... at at age 104!
